This is what blogging is all about. This is not what Martha Stewart had in mind when she drafted that chapter on stencilling.

Well, I'm hooked. Tis the season of the Japanese ghost story! Ever since Spirited Away, our little corner of Chinatown just can't get enough of stink gods, sprites, and an abundance of meaningful silences, and apparenly, we're not alone. (Incidentally, the Ring, or Ringu, reminds me so much of this little rebellious gem. The Eye was remade for US audiences recently, too---any consgeneti out there who can recommend---or better yet, lend--- other, more obscure and generally spooky stuff?

On the other hand, politics gets reduced to this: the democratic party's lovely flash animation, and completely bereft of any rational discussion. Image, code word, image code word. Ah, the digital age really has transformed democracy.

The World Heritage Foundation is working on a really cool idea --- lots of virtual reality films of all the World Heritage sites in the world. When I was in Macchu Picchu, in Peru (a world heritage site, but not on the website yet), it occured to me me that my presence there was not just simply unnecessary, but ultimately kinda destructive. This project is sort of the tourist/preservationist equivalent of the zero population growth movement.

Just in time for summer, a story of a swedish pixie and his sled. Beautiful flash animation fills in the simplicity of the story.
